Job Summary:

As a Community Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in promoting recovery and resilience for those adjusting to community living. With a supportive and educational approach, you will have the opportunity to guide clients towards improved functioning and overall well-being. Your role will involve providing comprehensive support, coordinating services, and utilizing evidence-based interventions to address the unique needs of each individual. As a Community Support Specialist, you will have the privilege of working directly in the community, visiting clients' homes, clinics, and other local settings. Your responsibilities will include implementing organized treatment plans, conducting follow-ups, and performing outreach and engagement activities. You will employ advanced knowledge of psychological concepts, evidence-based interventions, and behavioral science principles to deliver effective mental health services in collaboration with practitioners and community partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and activities to clients through organized treatment plans designed to facilitate community living adjustment

  • Utilize a supportive, educational approach to promote improved functioning and encourage recovery and resilience

  • Provide comprehensive follow-up, outreach, and engagement for assigned cases, including addressing missed appointments

  • Apply advanced knowledge of psychological concepts, evidence-based interventions, and service coordination with practitioners and community partners

  • Employ specialized knowledge of behavioral science principles, such as motivational interviewing, reinforcement, operant conditioning, social norming, attitude change, persuasion, hierarchy of needs, interpersonal and group dynamics, cognitive processing, attentional processes, and empirically supported behavioral intervention strategies

Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields of study:

  • Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Education, Criminal Justice, Family Studies, Counseling, Recreational Therapy, Human Services, Human Development, Child Development, Gerontology, Behavioral Science, Rehabilitation Counseling OR...

  • Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support degree from an approved institution OR....

  • Work experience in a related human services field may substitute for educational requirements. *Related fields may include direct support such as case management, residential support, developmentally disabled support, vocational rehabilitation, and more. Four years of qualifying experience minimum or a combination of education and experience equaling four years required. OR....

  • Qualified Addictions Professional (QAP) - CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, CCJP, RADC-P, RADC, CCDP, CCDP-D

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Reliable vehicle & acceptable recent driving record
