NeuroRestorative, a member of the Sevita family, provides rehabilitation services for people of all ages with brain, spinal cord and medically complex injuries, illnesses and other challenges. In a variety of locations and community-based settings, we offer a range of programs, including vocational and therapy programs, day treatments, and specialized services for infants, children, adolescents, Military Service Members and Veterans.

Cook/Housekeeper

  • Oxnard, CA

  • Oxnard NeuroRestorative facility located on Teal Club Road

  • Fulltime

  • 3 days per week

  • Flexible; please discuss during interview with recruiter

  • 7am-5:30pm

  • 10-hour shifts with overtime after the 8th hour

    Do you have culinary and housekeeping skills and a desire to work for a company that actively improves the lives of the individuals it serves? As a Cook/Housekeeper, you will help in our commitment to serve others by coordinating menus, preparing food for the individuals receiving our services and cleaning and maintaining all common areas.

    Job Duties (including, but not limited to):

    For the Cook portion of this hybrid Cook/Housekeeper role, you will help in our commitment to serve others by coordinating menus and preparing food for the individuals receiving our services, as well as:

  • Prepare three meals a day for up to 10 residents.

  • Prepare meals according to planned menus, standardized recipes, and offer appropriate substitutions, if necessary.

  • Review menus to identify all food required for therapeutic diets before preparing meals.

  • Knowledgeable about various dietary restrictions, including diabetic, gluten free, and other nutritional

  • Modify food textures using blender and thickener as needed.

  • Control portions per Therapeutic Diet Manual.

  • Prepare meals for service using correct tray set up.

  • Serve food at required temperatures.

  • Maintain and document required refrigerator and freezer temperatures daily.

  • Post menus in areas easily accessible to residents.

  • Maintain a 96 hour supply of food and water to be used for disaster situations.

  • Store leftover food per NeuroRestorative Policy and Procedure.

  • Date all food items upon delivery and prior to storing in appropriate location.

  • Maintain a kitchen and equipment cleaning schedule according to NeuroRestorative Policy and Procedure.

  • Use dishwasher for washing and drying dishes. When dishwasher is in operable, follow NeuroRestorative Policy and Procedure for manual dishwashing.

  • Prepare grocery lists and product amounts based on standardized menu on a bi-weekly schedule.

  • Able to use simple math to determine recipe ingredient quantities and dilution of cleaning solutions.

  • Maintain updated resident profiles.

  • Report any hazardous conditions, equipment, accidents and incidents to supervisor.

  • Attend monthly staff meetings.

  • Participate in Performance Improvement and Safety Programs as assigned.

    For the Facilities Housekeeper portion of this hybrid Cook/Housekeeper role, you will help in our commitment to serve others by cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining all common areas, as well as:

  • Clean and maintain all common areas including rooms, hallways, restrooms, windows, woodwork, light fixtures, and other work areas so that health standards are met and the home is neat and debris-free.

  • Maintain and clean floor surfaces, furniture, draperies, use shampooers, and empty trash receptacles.

  • Follow universal precautions and procedures regarding cleaners, hazardous materials, and infection control.

  • Disinfect equipment and supplies.

  • Launder, sort clothing, iron, and fold items.

    Qualifications:

  • Cook/line cook/prep cook and/or kitchen experience required

  • Housekeeping experience preferred but not required

  • Valid Food Handler’s Certificate

  • Valid driver’s license in good standing

  • A reliable, responsible attitude and a compassionate approach

  • An acute attention to detail
