GEHA Data Governance Analyst in Lee's Summit, Missouri

The Data Governance Analyst plays a vital role in ensuring the quality, integrity, and security of our organization's data assets. This role support data governance activities and initiatives in alignment with the Data Governance Program, policies, and organizational goals. Leveraging technology, this role will participate in the curation and governing of the organization's Business, Data, and Technical Assets through the management of an Enterprise Business Glossary and Data Catalog. The ideal candidate possesses an understanding of data governance principles, data management practices, and has a keen eye for identifying and mitigating data quality issues.

SKILLS

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute data governance activities and initiatives in alignment with the Data Governance Program.

  • Support the data governance framework that aligns with the Data Governance Program, policies, and organizational goals.

  • Collaborate with team members to improve data governance policies, standards, processes, and documentation.

  • Assist the organizational adoption of the data governance platform by providing user documentation, training, and demonstrations to ensure proper usage and adherence to processes and procedures.

  • Perform tasks to ensure proper administration of the data governance platform.

  • Create and improve user guides, procedures, and other documentation to improve communication and understanding of the data governance platform.

  • Collaborate with other team members to identify additional documentation needs.

  • Partner with data stewards and other subject matter experts to curate and govern terms and other assets in the business glossary.

  • Partner with data stewards and other subject matter experts to ingest, classify and categorize metadata based on sensitivity and establish criteria to protect sensitive information.

  • Partner with developers to document data lineage and data dictionaries for data assets.

  • Monitor and assess data quality across various systems, identifying discrepancies and implementing measures to improve and maintain data accuracy.

  • Generate comprehensive reports on data quality, compliance, and the effectiveness of data governance processes.

  • Communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.

  • Perform audits of glossary and metadata/catalog content and data governance processes.

  • Collaborate with data governance team to foster a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience (5+ years) in data analysis, database development, data warehousing, or data analytics.

  • Demonstrated experience (3+ years) in data governance, data management, or a related role.

  • Demonstrated experience using data governance platforms such as erwin Data Intelligence, Collibra, Alation, or Informatica.

  • Demonstrated experience using data quality platforms such as DQ Labs, Atacama, Precisely, or Informatica.

  • Demonstrated experience in data modeling, data mapping and data profiling.

  • Demonstrated experience with SQL.

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Effective communication and people skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Additional Qualifications

  • Understanding and familiarity with healthcare insurance data is preferred.

  • Understanding of data privacy and protection regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, or other relevant laws and regulations is preferred.

  • Understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and metadata management is a plus.

  • Industry certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) are a plus.

Work-at-home requirements

  • Must have the ability to provide a non-cellular High Speed Internet Service such as Fiber, DSL, or cable Modems for a home office.

  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 30x5 (30mpbs download x 5mpbs upload) is required.

  • Latency (ping) response time lower than 80 ms

  • Hotspots, satellite and wireless internet service is NOT allowed for this role.

  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. GEHA considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

The annual base salary range for this position is $83,000 - $117,000 USD.
