Weyerhaeuser Heavy Equipment Operator in Grande Prairie, Alberta

We currently have a full-time opportunity with our Log Yard Team. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently delivering Cut–to-Length logs to the Sawmill and unloading log trucks utilizing mobile equipment. This position will report to the Greenside Team Leader.

Key Functions:

-Operate and perform PM’s on log handling equipment consisting of mobile equipment.

-Operating shift will be determined based on business needs.

-Complete regular area maintenance (gravel & dirt work, snow removal, de-barker deck & area cleaning, etc.)

-Shift schedule is weekend nights (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 6:00pm-6:00am).

  • Able to complete mobile equipment training
  • Able to lift 2-20 pounds regularly, and climb steps and ladders
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a group
  • Eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
  • Ability to work within a team setting
  • Able to perform basic math and use computers
  • Industrial or Manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Experience in a self-directed team environment is a plus
  • A resume detailing education and work history is required for consideration
  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • Behavior consistent with the Safety Vision and Policy and our People Principles. -Ability to meet all Team Norms and Standards with a clear focus on active participation in the Safety Program. -Physically able to perform the role.
  • Self-motivated with Demonstrated Leadership capabilities. -Strong aptitude for and experience in Log Handling and or heavy equipment operations. -Strong interpersonal, listening and communication skills (verbal & written). -Ability to prioritize and learn quickly. -Preference will be given to current heavy equipment operators with applicable skills. -Willingness to wear all required personal protective equipment
  • Willingness to work a rotating shift, including nights and weekends as required
  • Able to work in extreme temperatures, in dusty and noisy conditions, while wearing safety equipment
