Thomson Reuters Manufacturing and Distribution has one of the largest book manufacturing facilities in the United States. We are looking for a Buyer who is familiar with the manufacturing environment. We need a strong communicator who can independently interact with suppliers and partner with internal customers. You will also be involved in projects relating to cost savings and operational improvements. You will handle purchasing activities for spend categories, ensuring that purchases and quality of products and services adhere to the contract terms and conditions. For this role, you would also be eligible for a $2,500 signing bonus upon being in the role for 90 days. About the Role: In this opportunity as a Buyer, you will be responsible for: Negotiating service, terms, and pricing for all types of materials and services. Monitoring, analyzing and executing strategies to secure the best possible process, cost and service. Onboarding new suppliers and supply chain opportunities. Proactively building relationships with internal and external customers. Monitoring job status and communicating as needed. Following up to ensure dates are met. Representing interests and needs of customers and manufacturing in all decisions. Ensuring accuracy of print specifications and recommending best production methods. Capturing and reporting internal/external customer feedback. Identifying and reporting recurring problems. Providing quotes. Leading special projects to improve workflow, systems, processes and procedures. Leading tours of the manufacturing facility and training other guides. Performing system testing as necessary. Collaborating with production and/or other internal departments. Serving as a resource to all areas of business unit. Sound understanding of production requirements, capacity, and scheduling. On the floor troubleshooting with production employees on materials. Managing inventory levels and safety stock within the facility, including cycle counting. Supporting other production needs as requested (e.g., flex labor needs). About You: Bachelor's degree OR equivalent and some experience in a related field Responds to non-standard requests from internal customers. Interprets customer inquiries or requests and takes appropriate action to secure suppliers. Supports sourcing processes and systems, ensure optimal pricing quality and timely deliverables and managing expectations. Ensures infrastructure, methods, procedures and standards are appropriate in all areas to deliver top quality service to customers. Recommends and takes ownership for process improvements. Identifies and solves a range of problems whose solutions are within standard guidelines and policies. Proficient in Microsoft applications. High level of proficiency in SAP Knowledge of printing methods, equipment capabilities and material requirements Knowledge of scheduling and forecasting processes Mathematical, analytical and logic skills Develops and maintains respectful and productive working relationships with customers, co-workers and the management team. Develops working relationships across production departments to build knowledge of manufacturing equipment, capacity, processes and materials. Has a strong commitment to customer service. Develops strong relationships with internal and external customers Professional Experience Experience in printing or manufacturing Some customer service or account representative experience Some experience as a production planner, scheduler or in manufacturing and/or printing following bachelor's degree preferred Sourcing Print related services Knowledge of Print related processes and materials Project Management experience Candidates must be able to pass a background check and drug test, as applicable for the role.
