Job Title: US Customs Dispatch Specialist

Job Location: Chicago, IL

We have an exciting opportunity for a US Customs Dispatch Specialist to own and manage customer accounts’ daily operations. This position will be based at our Chicago, Illinois location.

Key Responsibilities :

·Subject matter expert in service, production or support area of responsibility

·Monitor and assign Work Distribution for corresponding files

·Expert advisor to internal and external customers and management

·Performs all of the standard and specialized, most complex aspects of the function

·Prioritize dispatches based on customer requirements & shipment specifics

·Support dispatch tasks as needed

·Determine appropriate delivery carriers based on price (Exworks) or customer requirements

·Identify underperforming carriers and suggest alternates to manager

·Ensure appropriate docs are provided (e.g. HazMat)

·Research shipment-specific delivery issues and carrier failures, facilitate corrective action and provide to supervisor/manager

·Post-dispatch follow up procedures (including confirmation of pickup by trucker and follow-through to Proof of Delivery (POD)).

·Trains and coaches A1-A3 colleagues as needed

·Special projects under the department manager’s guidance

·Ability to work independently in both day-to-day tasks as well as problem solving

·Other tasks as assigned

Skills / Requirements :

·Maintain positive and professional internal and external customer relationships

·Ability to manage vendor performance and challenge service providers when commitments are not met

·Ability to manage the workflow and productivity of the department with minimal assistance from supervisor/manager

·Provide guidance and insight to other DHL colleagues on carrier selection and performance

·Ability to communicate status updates as outlined in policy and procedure

·Ability to review department specific reporting and adjust processes/productivity and counsel A1-A3 according to data

·Utilize Microsoft Excel to open and update existing spreadsheets, copy, and paste

·Utilize Microsoft Outlook to send and respond to email messages, compose messages, use folders to organize messages, schedule own appointments, save and archive email messages

·Utilize Microsoft PowerPoint to open and review slides presented

·Utilize Microsoft Word to create a basic document, edit documents, and proof documents to make them more accurate

·Utilize Microsoft iShare to open and navigate documents.

·Ability to effectively utilize DHL systems to:

oEfficiently complete job functions in Customs Management / Alliance including shipment processing, updating of data elements, perform queries, resolve validations, shipment tracing, and navigation between screens.

oIndex, load, and view documents into EDM imaging environment

·HS diploma or GED required

·Generally 3-5 years of experience in area of responsibility

·Effective issue resolution and problem solving skills
