Job Summary/Duties and Responsibilities

Division Heads are responsible for overseeing multiple groups of campers and the counselors assigned to them. They problem-solve, check in with their groups regularly throughout the day, and keep both staff and campers accountable for upholding the standards of the camp. They also serve as the main point of contact for parents. Working with the Camp coordinator, they will provide continuous training throughout the summer for the camp counselors assigned to their groups.

Job duties

  • Train staff assigned to their groups.

  • Supervise both campers and counselors.

  • Provide leadership with enthusiasm.

  • Enforce all rules that pertain to the Day Camp and facility on a constant basis.

  • Adhere to check-in and check-out policy.

  • Follow and adhere to discipline procedures.

  • Maintain cleanliness and order of the camp in order to ensure safety.

  • Ensure the safe use of the equipment and execution of the planned activities through enforcement of facility and activity-specific regulations.

  • Protect, maintain, and be accountable for group camp supplies such as assigned radio, folder.

  • Report any and all facility defects/problems to Camp Coordinator, or Director of Auxiliary Programs

  • Attend all mandatory meetings/training.

  • Provide excellent customer service and communication with parents.

  • Interface respectfully with peers, supervisors, and customers of various socio-economic backgrounds.

  • Handle disputes with participants, in a professional manner with guidance of Camp Coordinator or Director of Auxiliary Programs

  • Communicate any disciplinary issues to Camp Coordinator, and parents.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background working in school or childcare setting.

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.

  • Must be 21 years of age or older and be available for all 6 weeks to be considered.

  • For the summer of 2023, all camp employees who are eligible to receive the vaccine, need to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before beginning.

  • A valid First Aid and CPR Certification issued by an authorized agency.

  • Compensation varies based on experience and role within the camp.
