Home Depot Legal Operations Manager in Atlanta, Georgia

POSITION PURPOSE

The Legal Operations Manager is a strategic leader who drives innovation in the Legal Department. Supported by a team of Legal Operations professionals, this position identifies, designs, implements, and reinforces the processes and systems that allow the Legal Department to run smoothly and provide stellar service to our internal and external customers. This position is responsible for the technology solutions, vendor relationships, outside counsel spend and rate tracking, special projects, and helps build the Legal Department strategy, structure, and culture.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage day-to-day corporate legal operations requirements, including matter management, document management, invoicing management, and reporting.

  • Manage a team of Legal Operations professionals, providing guidance, coaching and mentoring to ensure their continued growth within legal operations and support of the department.

  • Provide customer support services to the internal Legal Department and outside counsel partners.

  • Responsible for assessing the Legal Department's workflow and performance, as well as overall client satisfaction, and identifying procedures to increase overall efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Support the Legal Department in long-term projects that improve performance and efficiencies.

  • Responsible for the design, tracking, and reporting on Legal Department metrics to inform decision making and support senior leadership in developing operational strategies and best practices.

  • Facilitate and drive cross-functional relationships (such as with Technology, Finance, Human Resources, and strategic business partners), providing overall leadership, direction and cohesiveness for Legal Department projects and stakeholder management.

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

NATURE AND SCOPE

  • This position reports to Sr Mgr. Legal Operations

  • Direct and indirect reports typically include 1-3 Operations Analysts

  • Typically requires frequent persuasion or influencing of others. Usually assigns and reviews work of others

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, information technology, operations management or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent in a comfortable position and there is a frequent opportunity to move about. On some occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership and management experience

  • 3-4 years with an existing legal operations function, building or running legal operations capabilities.

  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, with detail orientation.

  • Strong people leadership skills, including the ability to drive toward outcomes through a team and develop a high performing team.

  • Experience with TeamConnect, iManage, Business Objects, or related systems.

  • PMI certification

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Strong quantitative skills such as statistics and data analysis

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information/documents.

  • Determination to drive to results in a highly iterative environment.
